TeXmacs
GNU TeXmacs is a WYSIWYG editor for authoring technical documents, with strong support for mathematics. Name notwithstanding, TeXmacs is not based on either LaTeX or Emacs, although it is loosely inspired by both. Unlike its competitor LyX , it is not a frontend to LaTeX; it implements its own typesetting system.
TeXmacs is an outstanding piece of software that deserves to be more widely known. I use it regularly to write mathematical notes.
